Geology 215 Pangasinan-La Union Fieldwork 2024

Six (6) MS Geology students from the National Institute of Geological Sciences, University of the Philippines participated in the mapping of the different facies of the Late Miocene Amlang Formation exposed in Pangasinan and La Union from October 7-14, 2024. The fieldwork is part of the Geology 215 (Advanced Field Geology) class led by AGSF. During the fieldwork, the class conducted detailed stratigraphic logging and description of the outcrops visited, as well as collect samples for petrographic and paleontological analyses. The results of the analyses, as well as the respective special topics of the students (calcareous nannofossil biostratigraphy, facies analysis, ichnofossils, ostracods, structural analysis, etc.), will hopefully provide insight into the depositional history of the formation in the Ilocos-Central Luzon Basin.
