The second Geology 135 (Earth History) class fieldwork was successfully conducted in Santo Tomas, La Union and Bolinao, Pangasinan last May 4-6, 2024. Similar to the previous fieldwork, this three-day fieldwork involves, exposes and familiarizes third year geology students to modern carbonate environments in Bolinao, Pangasinan. This is important especially because reef settings are common in the country. They were also exposed to lithostratigraphic units with abundant and diverse marine invertebrate fossils and clear stratigraphic boundaries in Sto. Tomas, La Union. Furthermore, students were able to observe living specimens, which serve as modern analogs of various fossil samples that they saw in the laboratory. This fieldwork provides them the opportunity to integrate their learning inside and outside the classroom.
