Faculty members from the National Institute of Geological Sciences (mostly from the Nannoworks Laboratory) conduct an annual 4-day fieldwork in the Ilocos Region covering the provinces of Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur, and Ilocos Norte. The fieldwork is in connection with the Geology 120 (Principles of Stratigraphy) class offered by the Institute. Fieldwork is an essential component of this course and at the same time complements the lecture and laboratory discussions. The fieldwork aims to expose students to field mapping activities and to be able to apply the basic principles in geology in analyzing stratigraphic relationships of rocks.
