On November 3, 2025, the Nannoworks Laboratory held its annual Semester Starter (Welcoming Party) at the National Institute of Geological Sciences Lecture Room 015.

The 2025 Sem Starter was organized by instructors Chesca Petero, Raphy Dequilla, and Auds GardoƱa, and University Research Associate Miguel Villanueva with the theme of “A Field Guide through the Natural World of Nannoworks.” NIGS undergraduate student explorers from all year levels were invited and took part in the tour, accompanied by the Nannoworks Laboratory heads, graduate students, and alumni.
The event began with a warm welcome from tour guides Chesca & Raphy, followed by opening remarks from senior guide and lab head Dr. Alyssa M. Peleo-Alampay. This was then followed by an overview of the History, Vision, and Mission of Nannoworks.
The tour guides then led the explorers through the laboratory habitats of Nannoworks. The guides also talked about the UP NIGS-UPGAA Geology Museum, which serves as an ideal environment for the cultivation of earth science education. The explorers became familiarized with the behavior and ecology of the people of Nannoworks, such as their research specializations and annual conferences. The explorers were also given the opportunity to introduce themselves.
Games and raffles for the explorers and members of Nannoworks were officiated by tour guides Chesca and Auds. Food and drinks were generously served. Everyone participated fervidly throughout the exploration of the world of Nannoworks.
The tour officially ended with closing remarks from senior guide and lab co-head Dr. Allan Gil S. Fernando.
