Repainting of the UP NIGS-UPGAA

The UP NIGS-UPGAA Geology Museum underwent repainting from July 7 until July 17, 2025, as part of the initiative to improve the quality of the museum as an educational space. Its walls and ceilings were painted a mocha and cream color, not a stark difference from the initial colors, but a preservation of its warm identity.

Cabinets that contain rocks and minerals were carefully covered to prevent any paint spills as workers painted the entire walls and ceilings, including the dividers that separate the middle section exhibiting the Stegodon tusk. Repainting was supervised by the Museum Faculty-in-Charge, Dr. Alyssa Peleo-Alampay and the University Research Associate assigned to the museum, Jyll Radbert Botardo.

The museum repainting and further renovations would not be possible without the donations of B.S. Geology Alumni Batch 1981. The museum will continue to educate visitors of all ages on the concepts of earth science and our geological heritage.
