The first Geology 135 (Earth History) fieldwork was successfully conducted in Santo Tomas, La Union and Bolinao, Pangasinan last May 6-7, 2023. In this three-day fieldwork, third year geology students are exposed to modern carbonate environments in Bolinao, Pangasinan. It is important for geology students to recognize these kinds of environments in outcrops especially because reef settings are common in the country. They were also exposed to stratigraphic units with high marine invertebrate fossil abundance and clear stratigraphic boundaries in Sto. Tomas, La Union. Students were also able to observe living specimens of various fossil samples that they saw in the laboratory and were able to integrate their learning inside and outside the classroom because of this opportunity.
